The 'Griffin Hall of Fame': all the people that has already joined

My name is Jan Griep and I live at Katwijk aan Zee in the Netherlands. In 1963 I inherited from my uncle Henk Griep, from Hansweert, a bundle of papers with his research efforts after the origin of the Griep family of Zeeland. It took quite some years before I really looked in it. It started in 1987, when I got children of my own. Maybe you have to have a descendant before you start to take interest in your ancestors...
In the summer of 2000, I made this internet site. From that time on I have been in contact, by e-mail mostly, with hundreds of persons about our worldwide Griep-Grip-Grijp-research. Their contributions, varying from some remarks to completely new pages, were always very welcome. They made the site grow to what it is now, and also lead to several otherwise pleasant contacts.
The names and some other information of those who till now contributed to the website, are listed below. For those who wish to contact one of them, please ask me for their email-addresses. My address is at the bottom of the page.

THE ONE WHO STARTED IT ALL

My uncle Hendrik George Griep of Hansweert, Zeeland, is the one who started it all. Around 1940 he started the research after the origin of the Grieps from Zeeland. He got as far back as 1666 and found a lot of descendants of Jan Adriaenszoon Griep, also his own ancestor. When he died in 1963, I inherited his archive and his genealogy hobby.

THE PILLARS OF THIS PROJECT


Thomas Feldmann of Duisburg, Germany, is a descendant of a Griep family, that from 1648 on lived near Stolp in Pomerania. Now this town is called Slupsk and is Polish. He made the pages about The Pomerania Griep's, and wrote the text of the page about the griffin birds. He also translated a lot of the other pages into German.	Jan Johan Willem Griep of Putte, Netherlands, is working to complete the survey of his own family, with all the descendants of Jan Adriaensz. Griep, born in 1666 at Hoedekenskerke. Kees Griep of Kloetinge, Zeeland, Netherlands, gathered a lot of information about his own family: the descendants of Jan Adriaensz. Griep, born in 1666 at Hoedekenskerke.
