When,
in the 17th century, the old noble family Grip
had died out, the name Grip was free for
everybody to grab.
Many
times, army commanders used the name to give it
to a soldier with a to common name, to distinguis
him from his comrades.
Many
tens of soldiers served this way under the name
Grip, but only a few of them passed it on to
their descendants.
