HURGHADA
The Red Sea is surrounded by different
countries: like Egypt, Israel and Jordania. The city Hurgada lies in Egypt at the Red Sea coast and is full of
dive-centers. A good one is Emperor Divers. They have the biggest, most luxery dive-boats you can
imagine.
Although the water temperature is colder than in the Caribbean (between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius), the underwaterworld is like an aquarium.
The biggest variety of corrals and fishes will amaze you. You'll meet Angelfish, the dangerous
Lionfish, Napoleonfish, giant Moray's and even a Turtle or a Shark. The Red Sea is the only water in the
world, in which the Blue-cheek Butterflyfish lives.
| If you go to Hurgada, tell the instructor to take you to Sabrina Reef or Gota Abu Ramada West. The first location is full of really big table-corrals. The second is just a little world of wonders! |

EL GOUNA
In September 2000, we went to El Gouna, a little village about twenty kilometres north of Hurgada. El Gouna was build about ten years ago, located on severaL small islands, surrounded by the salt water of the lagune. It has been created for tourism only, but it's much more relaxed than Hurgada. It has several shops, restaurants, a disco and bars. You won't have any trouble there, walking by a shop, without buying anything.
All the hotels have boatconnections to the main beach, Zeytuna Beach. There you can rent surfboards, or book a snorkling trip off shore. There are beachpartys almost every night.

El Gouna has several dive-centers. We did our dives with T.G.I. Diving, a PADI divecenter. It's located at the Sheraton Miramar Hotel, at Zeytuna Beach. If you want to do a course, you can stay Downtown El Gouna, at the 'Club House', the second location of T.G.I. Diving. Here they have their classrooms and the practise-swimming pool. They advertise with instructors with a total of twelve languages spoken.
If you want to do open water dives, they'll take you about one hour and a half at sea, with their luxery dive-boats.

| They always offer two-tank dives, one around ten in the morning, lunch in between can be offert on board and the second dive, at a different location. You'll be back at your hotel about half past four. If you're an advanced diver, you can rent an underwater camera at T.G.I.'s. |
