Brand new studio album from cult post-punk group Section 25, who previously recorded four studio albums with the celebrated Factory Records label.
Although Section 25 disbanded in 1988, core members Larry (bass/ vocals), Vin (drums) and Jenny Cassidy (keyboards/vocals) regrouped in 2001, joined by guitarist Ian Butterworth (ex Tunnelvision) and multi-instrumentalist and engineer Roger Wikeley. While work on the new album was set back by the untimely death of Jenny Cassidy in November 2004, the group began gigging again in May 2006 and have since visited France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Dublin, London and Poulton.
Part-Primitiv was produced by the band at West Orange Studio, Preston, in 2007. Stand-out tracks include Can't Let Go, Dream, Carbon and You Never Make Your Mind Up. As the title suggests, the new album combines raw post-punk power with retro-futurist electronics, including two tracks written and sung by Jenny.
Section 25 will be promoting Part-Primitiv with further live shows, including an American tour later in 2007, and will also be following their memorable appearance in the 2006 LTM documentary Shadowplayers with spots in upcoming documentaries on Factory (BBC4) and Joy Division. A new live DVD, Communicants, is also available (LTMDVD 2496).
