ADVIESBUREAU HUIBERTS CELEBRATES
ITS 23th ANNIVERSARY !!!!!!!!!
2019-2021:
Gradually the whole Andover Controls-BMS in de Rotterdam Wilhelminahof-complex is replaced by Priva, in cooperation with Adviesbureau Huiberts.
spring 2015:
Control of temp/hum. in operating rooms
In some operating rooms of a hospital in the south of the Netherlands unacceptable fluctuations of temperature and humidity occurred. Adviesbureau Huiberts has solved the problem by using dynamic adaptive parameters in the control algorithms of the AHU's.
summer 2014:
Interesting work completed
For a nursing-home in Alphen a/d Rijn software has been developped and tested for an installation with solarpanels, heatpump and heat/cold-storage-system.
march 2011:
Article about guarding of running-hours
published in TVVL-Magazine
by Ir. J.C.H. (Hans) Huiberts
Summary:
Existing installations tend to use more and more energy due to failing
installations, complaints of office-personel, inexpert operation,
bad service, etc. In a free-programmable BMS it is possible to compare
running hours of installation-parts with theoretical values on a
daily or weekly basis and give an alarmmessage in case of excess
of over 10 % (f.e.). Apart from running hours, operational situations
can be guarded in the same way. Such innovative monitoring has been
applied to a large office complex in Rotterdam for more than one
year now. The program in this BMS is guarding the actions of operational
and service-personel, the running of installations and it's own
application software. Putting such intelligence into a BMS results
in a surpassing level of automation, with lower energy-, survey-
and service-costs.
aug. 2009:
First guarding of running-hours in the Netherlands:
Adviesbureau Huiberts has started its new and unique programm for
the guarding of running-hours in an extensive project. After fixed
periods the BMS will automically compare the running-hours of installations
with theoretical values and generate an alarm if running-hours are
too high. In this way unneccesary energy-use can be avoided, f.e.
due to incorrect setvalues, faulty software, etc.
july 2009:
Energy cost-reduction:
After a thorough investigation Adviesbureau Huiberts have been able
to advise a customer in Rotterdam to lower the capacity of the heat-exchanger
of the District Heating Company, by which an annual cost reduction
of about 35.000 Euro's will be realised starting from 2010.
jan. 2009:
PRIVA:
While checking a Priva-BMS, faulty sequence-controls and instabel
processes are fixed by Adviesbureau Huiberts.

ADVIESBUREAU HUIBERTS CELEBRATES
ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY !!!!!!!!!
jan. 2008:
Importation of electricity-measurements:
In a hospital in the south of The Netherlands the measurements of
some Schneider-Powermeters are imported into the BMS via Modbus. The
BMS calculates and registrates a.o. electricity-usage per quarter,
hour, day, month and year. Furthermore, the following is executed:
Logging of maximum powers, alarming when exceeding a setvalue, etc.
sept. 2007:
Registration of running-hours:
Adviesbureau Huiberts look for some projects to test a recently developed
advanced calculation of running-hours per adjustable time period.
This routine can be a unique tool for energy management (if you know
how to use it).
june 2007:
Energy cost-reduction:
After a thorough investigation and some adaptions of the application-software
Adviesbureau Huiberts have been able to advise a customer in The Hague
to change his contract with the District Heating Company, by which
an annual cost reduction of about 15.000 Euro's will be realised starting
from 2008.
april 2007:
Degree-days-registration:
For a customer in Utrecht a degree-day-registration has been implemented
in the BMS. The consumption of heat per day, month and year will automatically
be devided by the number of degree-days over the same period. Herewith
the energy -use in colder and less cold winterperiods can be compared.
february 2007:
Priva: Peak load-shaving for gas
In The Netherlands companies and institutions are limited in their
hourly gas consumption by the gas suppliers and will have a big penalty
when the contract-value is exceeded. This penalty can amount up to
150 Euro per m3 gas, based on the maximum usage over the year.
In february 2007 the Dutch marketleader Priva introduces a new software-module:
"Peakshaving for gas". In a period of one hour, 4 points of time with
matched maximum-consumption of gas must be defined by the user and
when these values are exceeded, some (software-)outputs will be closed
(max. 4 pcs.) in a fixed order, by which certain gas-users (like boilers,
groups) can be blocked.
As much as 4 years earlier, in 2003 (see below), Adviesbureau Huiberts
introduced thear first "Peak-Gas-shaving" programs. By using
smart extrapolations in the calculation of the forecasted hourly gas-consumption.
The user only has to set the maximum allowed hourly gas-consumption
in his BMS. Which gas-consuming-installations will be blocked and
for how long, is programmed in the software. The Total-Energy-system,
boilers, radiatorgoups, etc. wil be switched ON and OFF in an optimal
way and not in a fixed order or with any restriction. The software
of Adviesbureau Huiberts is taylor-made and will give the best results.
january 2007:
Improvement of optimal start procedures:
In projects with district heating, the heating of a cold building
in the morning will take a much longer time than in a building with
its own boiler(s). This is caused by the outside-air-temperature-dependent
supply-watertemperature of the district-heating. In some district-heated
buildings the optimal start procedures are adapted by Adviesbureau
Huiberts, with an addition for the number of degree-days, which is
calculated during the period of non-heating. This has a certain relation
with the amount of heat that has to be put into the building before
occupancy-hours. The result is excellent: no complaints anymore.
october 2006:
Energy-cost-reduction:
After an investigation and some adaptions of the software, Adviesbureau
Huiberts have been able to advise a customer in Rotterdam to change
his contract with the district-heating company, resulting in a cost
reduction of about 45.000 Euro per year, starting from 2007!!
(Costs of the investigation: about 5.000 Euro)
spring 2006:
Buffer-loading/unloading:
In a project in Rotterdam 6 chillers dropped into failure very often
when they were running at low capacity in spring and autumn. This
problem is solved by making use of the chilled-water-buffers, which
are loaded by the chillers in a short time (about 10 minutes) at high
capacity and unloaded with the chillers switched off (for about half
an hour).
spring 2004:
Tap water boosting i.c.w. Total Energy:
Due to legionella-danger, tap water temperatures in some projects
were set gradually higher and higher by the management. This resulted
in a continously hot heating water-system, also in summertime. The
Total-Energy-systems were switched off, or in failure, because of
a too high inlet-temperature. They had very low numbers of running
hours per year.
For legionella-fighting it is not necessary to maintain a continuously
high tap water temperature. Very often a temperature above 60 °C
during about 15 minutes per day is sufficient to kill the bacteria.
By boosting the heatingwater temperature for one hour during the night,
legionella-regulations are fullfilled and for the rest of the day
the setvalue of the heatingwater temperature can be much lower, by
which the Total-Energy-systems are running during almost the whole
year round now.
2003/2004/2005/2006:
Peak-gas-shaving:
In The Netherlands customers have to pay monthly a fixed rate for
the maximum number of m³ gas per hour, which is layed down in
the delivery-contract. Exceeding this amount can result in a penalty
of upto 150 Euro's per m³ gas at the end of the year!
In some projects, amongst others an extensive building-complex in
Ermelo and a hospital in Helmond, the software for the control of
the boilers and the Total-Energy-system is adapted by Adviesbureau
Huiberts, to have the total gas-consumtion under control by switching
them on and off.
The hourly gas-consumption was registrated during some winters and
with regard to this, the contract-value for maximum number of m³
gas per hour was lowered, which resulted in a yearly cost reduction
of over 10.000 Euro.
During each hour the gas-consumption is measured and extrapolated
to a forecast of the value at the end of the hour. If this value exceeds
the contract-value, one or more boilers are switched off temporarely.
By doing this, high penalties can be avoided.
Adviesbureau Huiberts have introduced this idea "peak-gas-shaving"
already in 2003 on the Dutch Market. It is a variant of the wellknown
"peak-load-shaving" for electricity.
