Fiat 600D Multipla
Afer a period of looking for a Fiat 600 Multipla, in april 2004 someone give us a tip that there was a Fiat 600 Multipla for sale in the Netherlands. Originally the Fiat was a army car from Italy. At first the car was sold to someone in Germany and after that the car was transported to the Netherlands. The people who had bought the Fiat 600 Multipla wanted to restore the Fiat. Unfortunaly for them: they didn't have the time to restore the car and they decided to sell it. And so we bought our "dream car" in may 2004. Here is a picture of the car in the condition may 2005:
At first we decided to wait with the first steps of restauration till the winter. But: when the car is in your garage, than you want to start! The beginning of the restauration was to disassemble the car and make a list of all the parts & materials we need. The bodywork of the car was (and is) really bad and need a lot of attention. After disassembling the car we brought the car to a company which removed all the paint. And they also have coated the car, so it can't rust anymore.
After cleaning the bodywork, last year we spend a lot of time at searching for (and cleaning) Multipla parts. We're looking for parts at the internet and also visited two times a oltimer market in Italy (Imola and Reggio Emilia).
