I Would Like To Come Back As

A Dog!

 

If I should ever have the chance

to start my life all over again

as a less than human being my friends

of all God’s creatures big or small

I would really have a ball

if He would let me come back as a dog

 

If this may sound absurd to you

I guess I must agree with you

but I’ll try and give you one good reason

why

 

As a dog I would never have to go to

school

I wouldn’t have to learn about that golden

rule

or pledge allegiance to that stupid flag

stand up straight by the dawns early light

singing "Oh say can’t you see"

Oh can’t you see that I’d rather be free

free as only a dog can be

yes I would like to come back as a dog!

 

Lord above, if Thou really should exist

would you grant me my deepest heart felt

wish

my human features I would gladly trade

and become a Lassie a Sheepdog or Dane

and wag my tail if you call my name

and take me out for a walk

and chase a straycat round the block

yes I would like to come back as a dog!
