Loves’ Lament

 

Sometimes I wish

that love was not as distant

as it appears to be

and how it hurts to know

your heart is empty

mere words can not explain

 

I take it love’s no easy game

and if it were I never learned to play it

fools such as I who are known to be shy

will always let a chance go by

 

Hoping still that one day out of nowhere

love will come and find me

to prove that I was wrong

believing I was just an ugly duckling

no one would care to love

 

So many dark and lonely nights

I’ve cried the tears

of broken hearted lovers

desperately thinking that I was denied

a love I thought was meant to be
