Like A Winters’ Day

 

An icy wind is blowing

it keeps stirring up the leaves

that the trees have lost in autumn

and were piled up in heaps

at their trunks

 

The sun is slowly losing

her strength to warm the earth

but the memories of summer

I will cherish until it’s return

 

How long those winter nights are

when memories of love

fail to soothe me and bring comfort

to my lonely aching heart

that longs to know the pleasures

of loving once again

but the memories seem faded

almost colourless and grey

like a winters’ day
