Caught in the middle

of a yes or no guessing game

you don’t give me answers

you don’t give me clues

got no other choice but to play the game

and lose

 

Same player shoots again

looking for the rainbows’ end

searching for a lover with a heart of gold

silly stories I’ve been told

took some time ‘til I discovered

 

Love’s a silly game but still we play

makes no sense I hear people say

no one’s ever been just smart enough

to escape the tricks of love

 

Fooled again, lost once more

never got the chance to score

this must be the last time

but I’ve said it all before

once a fool stays a fool

never learned to take it cool

 

Scream and shout ‘cause luck ran out

love-sick blues is all I’ve got

pink coloured dreams all turned to grey

pity myself, hide away ‘til the hurt is

washed away

 

This time is just one time too many

stepped right in with eyes opened wide

could have known it from the start

never could have won her heart

still it happens every time
