Julian Schnabel's (born 1951 in New York) series of five espresso cups and saucers are inspired by, the surfer-themed character named Chuck. The mugs, show different moods with different expressions, one for Saterday and one for Sunday. For the working days of the week he decorated five espresso cups.
Unlike the espresso cups, wich were packaged in a Schnabel-designed life preserver, the
two mugs came in a normal package.The complete collection was available for the first time at www.illyusa.com, after a formal introduction at a birthday celebration for Schnabel at Galleria illy on October 26th, 2005.
