l'ora blu

Belgium artist Jan Fabre (born 1958) is one of of the few modern representatives of renaissance art. Fabre had the honor to be the first Belgium artist to decorate an illy set.

Thanks to his grandfather, French entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre, he got interested in the "blue hour", the magical moment between the hours of daylight and darkness, the moment on which nocturnal animals are asleep already and day animals are not yet awake. It is the transitional period in which the night makes place for the day, in which the energy of darkness and the moment of light meet. The black of darkness has not yet surrendered itself to light of the day.

The six decorated cups are blue, the color of energy which is prominent present at transfiguration which living undergoes when it changes of situation. From sleeping to awakening. The continuing bitrh of new life.

On march 27th the set was for sale through the Italian illy web-site and later on through shops all over the world. The set came as usual together with a can of coffe and a little brochure.
