The illy Art Collection "Origami" set was designed by the young German sculptor Michael Beutler. The design of the six cups and saucers was inspired by the Japanese paper folding technique "origami".
Michael Beutler won the illy Present Future 2005 prize in collaboration with Artissima, the international fair of contemporary art in Turin. Beside $10.000 illy gave him the opportunity to make a design for there illy Art collection cups. Beutler was born in Oldenburg, Germany, in 1976 and he lives and works in Berlin.
The set was available through shops en the illy web sites for 118 Euro in two kind of packages. One gift box, containing 6 cups and saucers, and 3 gift boxes containing 2 cups and saucers
