DESIGN
The Russian 2S19 looks similar to the M109
Paladin and PzH 2000. It replaces the 2S1,
2S3 and 2S5 in Russian service. It was developed
in the 1980s under the name MtsA-S, the MtsA-B
is a towed howitzer with the new 47 calibre
152mm howitzer.
The 2S19 has an autoloader, for a high rate
of fire. The long barrel increases its range
and it is more mobile, having a T-80 chassis.
The most used version is the 2S19. The 2S19M
has an automatic targeting computer. The
2S19M1 is fitted with a NATO 155mm L/52 howitzer. |

PERFORMANCE
The 2S19 is better and cheaper than the American
M109A6 Paladin, although the modern European
self-propelled howitzers are better.
The 2S19 fires at a rate of 8 rounds per
minute. It has a range of 24.7km with HE
projectiles and 28.9 with BB. The 155mm version
fires up to 30km with HE and 41km with ERFB-BB.
All versions can fire the Krasnopol laser-guided
projectile up to a range of 15 kilometres.
