DESIGN
The PzH 2000 is developed to replace the M109 is German service. ‘PzH 2000’ stands for ‘Panzerhaubitze 2000’, or ‘armoured self propelled howitzer 2000’. It is the best self propelled howitzer ever to reach production. Therefore it is very successful on the market. It has a crew of five, but it can function with a crew of three. It takes less than 30 seconds to start firing, and it takes also less than 30 seconds to start moving, before enemy artillery can return fire.

PERFORMANCE
The PzH 2000 is fitted with a 155mm L/52 howitzer with autoloader. The 52 calibre howitzer allows firing with normal ammunition up to 30 km and with assisted projectiles up to 42 km. Rocket aided projectiles (RAP) have an even longer range. The autoloader of the PzH 2000 makes it possible to fire at the incredible rate of 12 rounds per minute for one minute. It carries a large amount of shells onboard. The PzH 2000 is one the best armoured self propelled howitzers and can also be fitted with It has a MRSI (Multi Round Simultaneous Impact) capability up to 17km. Although its top speed is quite low, it can keep up with the tank because of its high average speed.
