Birdringingstation NEBULARIA

The birdringingstation Nebularia, founded in 1959, is registered in Lekkerkerk, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands. The activities take place all the year round in the Krimpenerwaard (Zuid-Holland) and direct surroundings, in August during two up to four weeks on the island Vlieland (Friesland) and from July to November in Westenschouwen (Zeeland).

Krimpenerwaard

In the Krimpenerwaard there is a tense co-operation with the Nature- and Birdwatchgroup 'de Krimpenerwaard' with ringing the following birds: owls, birds of prey and other breeding birds of the region. Since 1990 each year a lot of pulls in a big colony of Common terns in Capelle aan den IJssel has been ringed. In 2001 we ringed several hundreds of young Common terns. Also nearby the houses of some certified ringers, there are some mistnets stationed which catches the year round several local birds. In 2002 we shall start a CES-project in the “Stolwijkse Boezem”, near de village Gouderak. For results naar  result CES 2009. For results before 2009:

Vlieland

In August there are some mistnets and walk-in traps stationed on the properties of Staatsbosbeheer (the Kroonpolders) on the isle of Vlieland. During two up to four weeks there are being caught and ringed specially warblers and waders.

Results: 2000,  2001, 2002 , 2003, 2004 , 2005 , 2006 or 2007.

Westenschouwen 

In the dunes of Westenschouwen a so-called "vinkenbaan" is build where the Ringingstation Nebularia catches and rings its birds. On the vinkenbaan one hundred meters of mistnets (total 130 m¹) and four spring-operated clapnets are used. Both decoy-birds and tapes with birdsounds are used to attract the migrating birds down to the nets. This ringingstation (Vinkenbaan) is in use from the second half of July up till the end of November, 24 hours a day.
