Dates 20th Haarlem Baseball Week announced The 20th edition of the Haarlem Baseball Week will be staged this year from Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 13 in the Pim Mulier Stadium. At the moment talks are in progress with candidate participating teams. Participating countries will be announced shortly, but already it can be said that it will be an interesting, exciting and very attractive field of participants. Come back again for regular updates.
New logo Haarlem Baseball Week Looking ahead to the twentieth anniversary of the Haarlem Baseball Week it was decided to introduce a new tournament logo.The new logo, on which for the first time since the first Haarlem Baseball Week in 1961 the lighttower not appears, will be used for all communications, like letterheads and envelopes, but also all other publicity concerning the Haarlem Baseball Week.
Paul Moerman named Baseball Week President The Board of the Foundation International Baseball and Softball Events in the Municipality of Haarlem on Wednesday, October 28, 1998 named Paul Moerman as President/Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Haarlem Baseball Week. Moerman, who was Chairman of the Board for the Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association in 1989 and 1990, succeeds Jacques Reuvers, who passed away unexpectedly early April, 1998. Since then, Frits Mulder acted as Interim-President. In 1985-1989 Moerman was Chairman for Baseball and Softball Club Thamen. In the year 2000, the 20th edition of the bi-annual event will be organized. On the photo left Moerman is attends the 1990 World Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
Organizing Committee together again The Organizing Committee of the 20th Haarlem Baseball Week has its first meetings in the books. On Wednesday, January 20, the Committee came together for the first time under its new President Paul Moerman in the Pim Mulier Baseball Stadium. The first plans for the twentieth edition were discussed and guidelines were set out. The Committee underwent some changes in the past month. Vice-President Kitty van Gilst, Secretary Marianne Cops and 2nd Treasurer Niek van Zanten all resigned from the Committee. Henk Wessel (Sponsor Affairs) already announced his resignation after the 19th Haarlem Baseball Week. Both Rita Schrijber and Nathalie Lijnzaat will serve as new Secretary, while Gerard van Eekhout will handle Sponsor Affairs. Frits Mulder, who already was responsible for Tournament Affairs, was named new Vice-President. The Organizing Committee now looks like this:
