Dear Bill,

Thanks for your letter - by my reckoning we are 5th cousins twice removed! Your Sampson m Jane Northcott was brother my John m Honour Treliving.

I have tried phoning Joyce a couple of times but have had noone in. Maybe her lines are still down in the aftermath of the hurricane which hit south & south-east England badly about 10 days ago. I'll keep trying but the phone & electricity companies are saying it could be another 2 weeks before everything is back to normal.

I have copied out the census information I have on your ancestors, and have also attempted to cram onto one sheet as much of the family tree as I could. I hope it' is still intelligible. The reason I have put a "?" against the marriage of John and Francis and tehir eldest son John is because the surname was spelt TREVEGHAN which may not be the correct marriage. From the headstone "John, senr of St Germans" was buried at Landrake, but John & Francis did not have a son baptised as John at St Germans. Antony is very close to St Germans, so I hope it is right.

I have a newspaper cutting which I htink from what you've told me could refer to your uncle Arthur (Buster) and great-aunt Violet? but the dates would make Sampson the author aged c 120 years!

"TREVAN - Treasured memories of my wife, Violet, who died December 23 1962; also my son, Arthur (Buster) who died Jan 15 1956. Loving mother and brother of Pauline, Lil, Joyce, Sylvia, John, Sheila and Doreen ....."

Do you have a cousin called Arthur? That would make more sense if you did. I hope you or Joyce can shed some light onto this for me.

Yours

([signed]) Mary Trevan
