Brief Description

Ernest was born in St Austell in c1889. He joined the 4th Devon and Cornwall Light Infantry and spent time serving in Aden during the first War. His brother Wallace served with the same regiment from 1914 until the end of the war.
After marrying and having a family in Cornwall, Ernest emigrated to New Zealand in 1927 leaving his family behind. He worked there until his death. He worked for a number of jobs for the first 17 years including on the railways and on the wharf and as a carpenter. Then he joined N.Z. Forest Products Limited and worked for them until his death in 1965 from pneumonia, pleurisy and cancer of the stomach at the Greenlane Hospital, Auckland.
