Brief Description
Sampson was baptised in the parish of St Breward on the northern part of Bodmin Moor on 11 Feb 1805. He was one of 2 cousins with the same name born within 2 years of each other.
One of the Sampsons was convicted of smuggling at Bodmin in the 1830's but it is not clear which one it was.
I need to find the name of the book from which the information was extracted and sent to me. According to an index of newspaper references, there was a report in the Bridgewater and Somersetshire Herald on 15 Jun 1831 with reference to Sampson Trevan - affray with customs Cawsand.
From 1829 onwards it appears that Sampson lived in Antony.
His wife was born in Lawhitton, and after her death he lived with his mother and his widowed sister Mary Ann Skinner. When he died he was buried at Sheviock and described as of Torpoint in the parish of Antony.
It appears that the surname Trevan has died out at this generation on this branch.
From the 1841 census, John was born in c1829/30. Nothing more is known about him. He was not mentioned when letters of administration where granted following the death of his sister Mary Jane Trevan in 1895.
From the way she her name changed as it was recorded in the various censuses, she was known as Elizabeth as a child but Caroline by the time she became an adult. In the 1841 census, Elizabeth was born in c1832/3. In the 1851 census her name was recorded as Caroline E Trevan and she was a servant. By 1861 she had left home and was working as a laundry maid at Antony House, the home of the local landowners the Carew-Poles.
The 1862 Plymouth Directory records a Caroline Trevan, beer retailer, listed at 11 Chapel St. She married in the second quarter of 1861 in the St Germans registration district, so it is possibly but not probable that this was her. There was also a marriage in East Stonehouse in 3Q1872 of a Caroline Trevan. And another in 1Q1874 in Eastry.
She married Robert Greedy of Wilveliscombe in Somerset, and by the time of the 1881 census they were living in Deal in Kent.

When her sister Mary Jane Trevan died letters of administration were granted to her on 25 Apr 1895, which showed that they were living together and describing her as
- Elizabeth Greedy of No 46 Torrington Square Bloomsbury in the county of Middlesex widow the natural and lawful sister and only next of kin
In the 1841 census, Mary Jane was born in c1834/5. By the time of the 1851 census she was a servant but still living at home with her parents. By 1861 she had left home and was working as a servant at Trevor House. Nothing more is known of her until her death. She died on 25 Feb 1895 at 46 Torrington Square, Bloomsbury in the county of Middlesex and 2 months later letters of administration were granted to her sister Elizabeth Greedy who was living at the same address.
