Research Trip - June 2000

I spent a few hours at the reference library in Plymouth looking mostly looking at
  1. Newspaper articles mentioning Matthew Trevan in the 1770's (partly added)
  2. Navy Lists - mostly Trevan, but also some Treliving (not all information added yet)
  3. Census - where I failed to locate my Trevan ancestors John Trevan and Honor nee Treliving at some addresses I had not previously checked. I cannot find them at any of the addresses from baptiosm, birth, death entries or Plymouth directories. Searches of the following streets have revealed a negative search.

A couple of days later I met up with Trevan Cocking, my 3rd cousin once removed, who first made contact with me by email on 1 Jan 2000. It was memorable since it was my first incoming email of the new millenium.

Here are a few photos of the meeting. We met at the shop that he and his father run in Salisbury. To reach their web-site just click anywhere on the picture below.

We arrived earlier than arranged, so we had time for a browse around the shop and for me to have a cup of coffee.

His father, John Cocking, who writes under the pseudoymn of John Trevan, went off to collect his wife, Maria Cocking, nee Cook, my 3rd cousin. And then we went round the corner for lunch.
