Brief Description of the Family
I have not found the 1851 census entry for him. The 1871 census show his first wife to be 18 years older than him. She was called Mary and born in Cardinham. In the census she was recorded as age 68 where when she died later in the same year her age at death was recorded as 67 in the burial register on 27 Nov 1871 at Blisland, and as 66 in the civil registration index.
The 1881 census shows his wife as Matilda, 3 years younger than him and born in Blisland. Neither show any children at home.
He was described as a quarry labourer in 1871, and an agricultural labourer in 1881.
It's probable that he was the Benjamin Trevains who died in Chelsea, age 66 in 1893, but this means his age was out by about 5 years.
It's possible that his second wife Matilda died aged 73 in 1925 in Bodmin. But that gives a discrepancy of more than 25 years in her age as given in the 1881 census.
