Brief Description of the Family

John was baptised son of Philip and Jane Trevean nee Philips at St Erth on 23 Mar 1777. He married Ann Tremelling on 30 May 1800 at St Erth, and they had daughter Ann baptised there. The marriage entry describes him as a tinner. Mother Ann died 18 months later and was buried on 10 May 1802. John remarried a year later on 21 May 1803 to Mary Roberts, also at St Erth and he was again described as a tinner. Daughter Ann survived only until the end of the year and she was buried on 29 Dec 1803, only 11 days after John and Mary's eldest son John was baptised on 18 Dec 1803.

All of John and Mary's offspring survived into adulthood and several emigrated to Australia. Mary was buried at St Erth on 23 Mar 1847 and John was buried there on 10 Feb 1851.

John Trevean (1803-70)

John was baptised 18 Dec 1803. From information from other unidentified researchers, forward to me by Paul Chandler, he was at St Erth at the time of the 1851 census. From civil registration records it seems probable that son John married his cousin Johanna, daughter of his uncle Joseph and his wife Mary nee Trevena, in the 4th quarter of 1863 in the Penzance registration district. He was buried on 11 Oct 1870 at St Erth, and by the 1871 census Johanna was described as a widow. There are entries on the same page in the index for both John and Johanna. To confirm or refute this all that is needed is to buy the certificate.
