Brief Description of the Family

Joseph was baptised at St Erth on 27 Dec 1778, son of Philip and Jane. He married Mary Trevena on 9 Apr 1814. They lived in the parish of St Erth where they had 12 known children. Baptisms have not been found for all of the children, but the 1851 census revealed the presence of Johanna and Phillip. Sons John and Phillip emigrated to Wisconsin, USA and Samuel emigrated to Eaglehawk in Victoria, Australia where his cousin Philip and family also emigrated.

Unfortunately I have yet to acquire the 1851 census information, but the family was living at Kerkeys, presumably in the parish of St Erth.

Jo(h)anna Trevean (c1819-93)

Joanna was at home with her parents for the 1851 census, according to information from other unidentified researchers, forward to me by Paul Chandler It seems probable that towards the end of 1863 she married her cousin John Trevean, son of her uncle John by his second wife Mary nee Roberts. She was still living in Cornwall for the 1871 census at Phillack working as a general servnat for the Jones family, when she was described as a widow. At the time of the 1881 census she was working in Falmouth as a domestic cook for the widow Eliza Trerise from Mawgan. Her death was recorded in 1Q1893 in the Redruth Registration District aged 66.
