Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony, and Sammy Hagar have set June 11th in Greensboro, NC as the kick-off for America's top rock band historic reunion, marking their first concert tour in more than nine years. Tickets will go on sale for select concerts of the nationwide tour on Saturday April 3, 2004, with pre-sale ticket information to be announced shortly. Additionally, Warner Bros. Records will be releasing It's About Time, a newly recorded Van Halen track from the upcoming, best of Van Halen album scheduled for release this June.

Since Van Halen's seminal debut album in 1978, the band has set the template for hard rock and heavy metal, continually attracting legions of fervent fans. Van Halen in concert will be performing hits from its 25-year career including the number one singles and rock tracks Top of the World, When It's Love, Why Can't This Be Love, Right Now, Dreams, Jump, Best of Both Worlds, Panama, and Love Walks In.

Sammy Hagar was the Van Halen front man from 1985-1996. During that period, all Van Halen studio albums, 5150, OU812, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Balance, as well as Best Of Van Halen Volume I, went straight to #1 on the Billboard charts. Live: Right Here, Right Now peaked at #5. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge won a GRAMMY Award for "Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal" in 1991.

The GRAMMY Award-winning band has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. Twelve Van Halen albums have been certified multi-Platinum. Additionally, the band's eponymous debut album and 1984 have both reached Diamond status, recognizing sales in excess of 10 million units each. The band holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the most Number One rock tracks (11) at album radio.

Van Halen has teamed up with iloveallaccess.com to offer the ultimate fan experience featuring a variety of premium ticket packages. Packages for the Greensboro, Hershey, Philadelphia, Worcester, East Rutherford, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Auburn Hills, St. Paul, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Las Vegas concerts will be available starting Tuesday March 30 at 10am ET. Van Halen 5150 bestaat officieel sinds januari 1990 en heeft in die veertien jaargangen 53 uitgaven van het blad "5150" uitgebracht, waaronder een speciaal 10 jarig jubileum 51/50 exemplaar. Na de start met een twee maandelijkse uitgave verschijnt "5150" sinds 1996 per kwartaal voor de prijs van € 5,50 p/st. Voor dat geld verschijnt er ook, als dat nodig mocht zijn, een nieuwsbrief.

Dat kan zijn voor de release van een nieuwe CD of om een voorverkoop van een concert aan te kondigen. In 1995 b.v. kregen alle leden een uitnodiging voor de Secret Gig van Van Halen te Arnhem in samenwerking met Veronica. In "5150" is het laatste nieuws te vinden en met regelmaat een interview met Michael Anthony met wie 5150 al enige jaren nauw contact heeft.

Tot aan de komst van Van Halen's eigen Inside magazine in 1995 was 5150 de enige fanclub ter wereld!

Los Angeles radio station KLOS-FM have been running a Van Halen teaser campaign all day, promising exclusive Van Halen news, also adding a teaser banner to their website www.955klos.com/home.asp.

Sadly the station hasn't made any announcment after teasing fans all day. Are they asked not to, or are they just dicking fans around? The next 24 hours should bring some answers. The facts however, are clear. Sammy Hagar is back in the band. There is a tour that is almost fully planned and booked that will take place over the coming American summer. Coinciding with the tour, of following it, will be Van Halen's Best Of Volume 2, featuring new tracks with vocalist Sammy Hagar at the helm. The exact release date is unknown, with various sources suggesting May, August and September. I was told September, but that could easily change, as I also confirmed recently the new tracks were due for completion at the end of February. Various leaks from tour promoters and venues have been surfacing, with more this week.

It seems an official announcement is due the week of March 15. That's to be confirmed, but Monday March 15 is the hot date right now. It's suggested tickets could be on sale by the end of this month! In further news surfacing today, industry magazine Hits has provided another tidbit of info. It was Hits that announced Irving Azoff would manage Van Halen back in November - the same time I announced Sammy's return.

Today the magazine added this to their website:
"MONSTERS OF ROCK In non-restructuring-related business, Warner Special Markets is said to have negotiated a deal with Van Halen for a new greatest-hits package featuring three new songs. A tour to support the album is also said to be in the works, reportedly to include Sammy Hagar. While still unconfirmed, some close to the action confide that they think the album and tour will happen."

So folks... it's all good for Van Halen fans. The speculation and rumors will soon be replaced with facts. Stay tuned for updates.
