"I'm sorry for having waited so long to address this issue personally. But, cancer can be a very unique and private matter to deal with. So, I think it's about time to tell you where I'm at."

"I was examined by three oncologists and three head & neck surgeons at Cedars Sinai just before spring break and I was told that I'm healthier than ever and beating cancer."

"Although it's hard to say when, there's a good chance I will be cancer free in the near future. I just want to thank all of you for your concern and support."

* Valerie has made several call-up appearances on US radio this week promoting her new acting role on Touched By An Angel. These conversations included news that Edward and the band are waiting for David Lee Roth to contact them and everyone in the Van Halen camp is fine and ready to go on tour.

Dutch radioshow with a playlist of 29 songs featuring Michael Jackson's Beat It on 11th place.

Edward Van Halen's involvement with this project was done at the request of Grammy Award winning producer/songwriter Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson - he did not ask for, nor did he receive, any money for his contribution.

Van Halen as a band was on a short break from their Diver Down tour at the time and after a short series of phone calls from Jones and Ted Templeman, Edward and Donn Landee went to Westlake Studios in Los Angeles, CA to lay down a guitar solo for the song Beat It some time between August and November of 1982. It was Landee who convinced Edward to take part in the session. Steve Lukather handled bass and rhythm guitar and Lukather's fellow Toto bandmate Jeff Porcaro played drums on the track.
