Here the actual mating takes place of this Argiope species from Indonesia. In spite of my efforts to placate the female by feeding her, the male was devoured anyway, as he practically always is. I'd still like to think that this is real spider love, short but very intense, and perhaps preferable to the dull loveless existance of stick insects like Carausius morosus.
