The early 17th century origins of the Dupper family seem to be in Germany, in Erberfeld. Leendert Dupper (1754-1830) did some research into his family's origins and those of his in-laws, of which he made notes ("aantekeningen") that have survived.

7. Leendert Dupper

Occupation: he took over his father's job at the French boarding school in Brakel, became head-teacher in Dordrecht
until 1806, "adjunct-maire" of Vianen in 1811. In 1790 he wrote a prize-winning booklet on the best ways of teaching
spelling, reading and writing. He was also the author of the "aantekeningen" about the Dupper family and their in-laws,
mentioned above. His wife Sija Ketelaar was the sister of Anna Maria Ketelaar, the deceased first wife of his
brother-in-law Cornelis Goekoop Leendert was called after his grandfather Leendert Dirksen van Willigen.
